First-Ever Multi-Site MLB Urban Youth Academy in Philly-
Nearly $3 million will go towards providing free baseball and softball instruction to young people in Philadelphia’s underserved communities through use of the multi-site facility. To date, the project has been supoorted by MLB, the Phillies, the Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF), the City of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The facility will be called the Philadelphia Phillies MLB Urban Youth Academy and will be located at Richie Ashburn Field Complex in Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park, and at the Marian Anderson Recreation Center.

BTF Grant Recipient Update: New York Gothams Youth Baseball-
The NY Gothams had a successful summer! A total of five teams traveled to tournaments and participated in local leagues. The hot and humid weather didn’t wear these players down; a minimum of 35 games were played from June-August!
Congrats to two NY Gothams star players- Nelson Rodriguez and Fernelys Sanchez! Both young men played in the famed 2010 Summer Rivalry Classic in Yankee Stadium and ESPN’s Area Code baseball games in Long Beach, Californian, during the month of August.
Founded in 2000, New York Gothams Youth Baseball, Inc. is a competitive, travel program with the goal of providing talented, motivated players in New York City the opportunity to develop their skills and participate in competitive, national tournaments and showcases. In 2009, a Baseball Tomorrow Fund grant provided funding for the uniforms, tournament fees and travel expenses for eight additional scholarship players.

For the fifth consecutive year, MLB Urban Youth Academy will be hosting the 2010 MLB Umpire Camp from November 7th-14th at the MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton, California.
Eight Major League Umpires will be on-hand to share knowledge and further the advancement of college, high school, and little league umpires. The camp will concentrate on the specifics of Major League Umpire’s techniques, positioning, conditioning, nutrition, safety and equipment.
